the sea and the rhythm
september was a month that shined, in every possible way. the coming of autumn is always better than the actuality of it. which is where we find ourselves now, with the forecast showing the same raincloud for the next ten days....saturday night jodie and i went out to sauvie island, listening to old music....sauvie seems like a good compromise for us - it's a little bit of ohio in the midst of oregon. look down - ohio. look up - oregon.
received a call from a high school friend last night....he spoke to me as if i were still 16, even though we're both now in our mid twenties.....the conversation was juxtaposed between jimmy eat world's new cd and HOV traffic lanes during rush hour in dc. neither of which i am a part. it's hard to explain what eight years have done, for him probably as much as myself.
dad sent me some books yesterday. peter taught him how to use ebay, and i guess he's been a bidding fool ever since - thus these books. they came in typical dad-packaging: large white envelope/miscellaneous stamps for 1,4, and 8 cents to make up the $2.60 in postage/cut up sticker from his company used as a return address. always. we were cleaning the kitchen last night, and peter asked if i wanted to throw the envelope away. i couldn't answer. i looked at it, and it seemed so....old....i guess it only seemed that way because it was unique in itself but unimportant to everyone else, which is how most old things are.
