tuning out
sun through my window.
bare feet.
nyc streaming live.
furniture has never been so cool.
eighteen year old jessica shakes her head in shame....
so i'm semi-ashamed of my saturday night for multiple reasons:
1) we went to a show at this trendy hipster bar
2) we had never heard of the band playing
3) we paid $15 each for this unknown band
4) the opener was a band called "the electric dub orchestra". and, as
a general rule (this was no exception), bands with "electric" and/or
"orchestra" in their name are typically crap.
5) this was a full-fledged ska band. two trombones. one guy in a top
hat and short plaid pants. one trumpet. a glance around the venue
showed more people UNASHAMEDLY SKANKING than i've ever seen or imagined in
my life.
6) the actual band was pretty good - irish/bluegrass. they sang john
denver's "country roads" and i was thrilled. whenever i do get an ipod,
that will be the first song downloaded. i think that i just really
enjoy thinking of west virginia as a mountain mama.
7) after the show was over, "DJ TEENAGE AND THE ROMPUS ROOM" came out.
and uh....i danced. but only once.
