riot on an empty street

today....75 degrees, middle of march (still dead of winter in ohio)....i find the gentle ukranian woman fishing down by the pier...i sit there for a while and listen to a couple refer to the geese as "big duckies" (i inwardly groan - even though if i'm not really one to talk since i get waterfowl confused with fish all the time)....once they leave, the hawthorne bridge starts to raise AND the ukrainian woman caught a fish - at the same time. it was at most 5" long....i got so excited and went over to try to talk with her....apparently she eats the fish for dinner and only fishes when it's warm.....
what a great day. i'm going to walk home from work, i'm in such a good mood.
kings of convenience last night - there were signs plastered on the walls saying "due to the quiet nature of the band, please keep your noise to a minimum", which was a really strange flyer to have out during a show. but once they got on stage, they started off by saying "we are a quiet band" and began their first song of the set.....a drunk girl in the front then started laughing really loud. much like when pastor mabrey used to stop the service for adolescents giggling in the back pew, kings of convenience stopped playing and looked at her.....waiting for her to be quiet. beautiful.
